BII Debates: Enforcement First – Questions Afterwards?
29-Aug-2008
Anyone working in the licensed trade in and around Yorkshire is invited to join the debate at the next meeting of the Yorkshire Region of BII, the professional body for the licensed retail sector. The event is taking place in The Lounge Bar of Pontefract Racecourse on Thursday 18th September 2008.
The question of whether we are in danger of having an “enforcement first, questions afterwards” culture will be posed and discussed by Andy Grimesy of licensing law firm Poppleston Allen. He will be followed on the podium by Chris Lewis, 2008 BII Licensee of the Year, who is enjoying fantastic success through diversification of his business and aims to share some of his ideas and best practice advice.
Francis Patton CMBII, a lecturer in licensed retailing at Leeds Metropolitan University and member of BII’s national council, will round off the event’s line-up with a hard hitting presentation.
The event is being organised by BII Yorkshire Region vice chairman Rita Harper, sponsored by British Gas Business and supported by Cobra beer. Registration is at 10.00am with a whole afternoon’s racing and full access to the members’ enclosure available following a superb buffet lunch. All inclusive tickets are just £40 for BII members and £43 for non-members. For more details visit www.bii.org/events or call Tim Palmer on 01202 242714.
BII has over 41,000 provisional and permanent members throughout the UK and each of its 16 regions organises regular events to ensure licensed retailers remain up-to-date with industry developments. Yorkshire Region chairman Roger Hodgkinson CMBII welcomes members and non-members to benefit from the tips and advice on offer and to make the most of the opportunity to network with other licensees and industry professionals.
