Deadline Is Looming For 2009 BII Licensee Of The Year Entrants

19-Sep-2008

With just two weeks to go before the deadline for entries to the BII 2009 Licensee of the Year, the competition is hotting up. Don’t miss out – BII, the professional body for licensed retail, has received a record number of entries this year from licensees up and down the country vying for this prestigious title, but there’s always room for more.

The BII Licensee of the Year award is all about people and the way they run their business. Judges are looking for individuals or partnerships who make the best of the resources they have available. They could be running a community boozer, a village local or a high street bar. The type of venue isn’t important; what is important is that entrants:

The winner of BII Licensee of the Year enjoys national “celebrity” status for the year of their reign and benefits from extensive local, national and trade publicity. The prize also includes £1,000 prize money to donate to their chosen charity and a case of wine to auction for charity, courtesy of award sponsor Matthew Clark.

Entering is fun and simple – the first stage is answering a series of true or false questions, and this provides a great opportunity for all staff to get involved in completing the questionnaire. All stages of the judging process will be completed by February 2009 and the name of the winning licensee will remain a closely guarded secret until the night of the glittering Publican awards in central London on 24th March 2009.

Entry to the award is open to all UK on trade licensees whether they are freeholders, tenants/lessees or managers. Entrants do not have to be a member of BII.

Chris Lewis FBII, 2008 BII Licensee of the Year, from The Swan in Stafford, had this to say about winning: “I have had in excess of £10,000 worth of press exposure, met some very interesting people and got some great business ideas from other operators.”
