BII Appoints Neil Robertson As New Chief Executive

BII has appointed Neil Robertson to the role of Chief Executive. Neil is currently Director – Economy for the Government Office for the North East and he will be taking the reins at BII in early January 2009 when John McNamara leaves BII to become Chief Executive of the Alliance of Sector Skills Councils.

Neil has over 12 years’ senior management experience across the public and private sectors. Throughout his high level career, he has been operating in strategic roles within government, high stakes government agencies and in the private sector.

Neil has an extensive background in the skills arena with the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills, the Scottish Qualifications Authority and City & Guilds. He also has wide commercial experience and is attuned to the needs of small businesses throughout the UK.
