BII’s Yorkshire Region Chairman meets Princess Anne

Roger Hodgkinson CMBII, chairman of the BII’s Yorkshire region met HRH The Princess Royal at the BII’s recent Annual Luncheon which took place on May 14, 2002 at the Le Meridien Grosvenor House in London. Roger was among a group of VIP’s who were introduced to HRH The Princess Royal at a special reception prior to the main event.

HRH is President of the Patrons of Crime Concern and the BII has worked tirelessly during recent years to encourage licensees act in a socially responsible manner, to reduce alcohol-related crime. She gave a thought provoking speech about how the BII and Crime Concern could work together, including through the use of publicans as mentors for young people.

Roger said: “Partnership working is the way forward and mentoring is a classic case of how licensees can play an important role in the well-being of the local community. To be given the opportunity to meet HRH The Princess Royal was a real pleasure and she endorsed the work that we, as chairmen of the BII’s regions, are trying to achieve.”

John McNamara, chief executive at the BII said: “ We were very proud to have HRH The Princess Royal at our most highly attended occasion of the year and she was a real encouragement to our industry and it’s future. “ …/more over -2-
