The winners are announced in the BII 2001 NITAs held in association with the Morning Advertiser
Punch Pub Company, J D Wetherspoon and Arrochar Associates were among the winners announced on Friday March 22, 2002 at a prestigious Awards Luncheon, held at the Café Royal, London. The awards are organised by the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) which sees them as central to the pursuit of ever higher standards of training in licensed retailing. They are supported by licensed trade newspaper, the Morning Advertiser.
The 2001 NITA Special Award, given at the discretion of the judges, was awarded to Sergeant Steve Hall of the Warwickshire Door Safe Scheme. The scheme demonstrated some unique characteristics and that the judges felt deserved recognition. The 2001 Special Award for Innovation – a new award this year - was won by Interpub plc, which the judges rewarded for the evidence of innovation in its training programmes.
BII director of qualifications, Cathie Smith said: “The winners of all categories should be very proud and we would like to congratulate them all. The standard of this year’s entries was superb and all the winning training programmes deserved national recognition for their efforts.”
There are eight categories in the BII 2001 NITAs catering for all pub retail companies, both large and small, as well as individual licensees and training organisations. The judges were looking for evidence that training objectives and outcomes are achieved by maximising the use of resources available. ends] …/more over
