Responsible Drinks Retailing Campaign Launched
19-Jul-2004
INFORMATION RELEASE Date: 19th July, 2004 'Responsible Drinks Retailing' Campaign Launched With the "alcohol harm reduction strategy" being launched by the government, the trade has been warned to clean up its act. Without action being taken towards schemes encouraging a more responsible attitude from pubs, off-licences and suppliers – the law could soon be coming down hard on both the on and off trade. In response to the strategy, the publisher of the Morning Advertiser, William Reed has launched the ‘Responsible Drinks Retailing’ (RDR) campaign. The campaign, which is supported by various trade bodies including the BII, will encompass the entire on and off trade and aims to highlight examples of best practice and demonstrate that our trade is committed to changing the way that alcohol retailing is sometimes perceived. If you can show that you go out of your way to ensure the safety of your staff, your customers and your community or you can demonstrate best practice and innovative ideas when it comes to social responsibility then the Responsible Drinks Retailing campaign is a must for you. The campaign will culminate in a prestigious awards event on the 14th October at the Carlton Towers Hotel, London where the best exponents of RDR in both the on and off trade will be shown as examples to the rest of the trade and to local authorities and central government.
