WSTA SECURES LICENSING QUALIFICATION DEAL WITH BII FOR MEMBERS

12-Apr-2006

The Wine & Spirit Trade Association today announced that it has negotiated a special agreement with BII, the professional body for the licensed retail sector, to offer WSTA members completing the BIIAB National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders a significant saving on the examination fee. The scheme is based on a pay back system, which will be administered by BII once the individual has achieved the qualification.

Under the Licensing Act 2003, anyone authorising the sale of alcohol has to hold a personal licence. In order to qualify for a personal licence an applicant must hold a licensing qualification accredited by the QCA and approved by the Government. The BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders was designed to meet the requirements of the Licensing Act 2003 and is the market leading qualification.

More details of this offer are available on the www.wsta.co.uk website.

Jeremy Beadles, WSTA Chief Executive, commented: “I am delighted to be working with BII, the market leaders in qualifications for the licensed retail sector with 25 years of experience. This is an excellent example of associations working together for the wider benefit of their members and the trade.

“This is another deal which demonstrates the WSTA commitment to offer new valuable member services and provide real value for money.”

John McNamara, BII Chief Executive, said: “BII is committed to partnerships and this scheme is an excellent example of collaboration. This is a new requirement for most WSTA members and we want to support the sector as much as we can within the new legislation.”
